Knowing story to be a central force in shaping our lives, in building community, and in forming our faith, we are here to tell our stories. Big stories, little stories. Funny little moments, dramatic life-changing events. Exotic vacations and homey everyday vignettes. These stories have shaped us, and when we share them, our stories become part of the wider community and shape us all.
So pull up a rocking chair, put up your feet, and sit for a spell. Have a drink, watch the world outside our little porch, and listen to some stories. If you feel inspired, you can share your own (and here’s how). Welcome to the Taleswappers’ Porch!
P.S. I hope all you contributors will take a moment to introduce yourselves in the comments here - hint hint! ![]()

I’m “Taleswappers” - a pretty goofy name. Taleswapper is a character in Orson Scott Card’s Alvin Maker series, and when the idea for this project came up, it seemed the perfect name for the blog.
I am 35, separated from my husband of 15 years, mother of a teenager and a soon-to-be-teenager, cradle Episcopalian (though I’ve wandered in other directions a few times), software engineer, flutist, writer, and (of course) teller of stories. I love pink, purple, slipping into a bed made with freshly washed sheets, the feel and scent of a fresh towel on my face after a hot shower, a cold glass of lemonade after mowing the lawn, snuggling with my kitty, listening to great music, reading and listening to poetry, and discovering new delights in unexpected places.
I hope you enjoy your visit here, and I hope we’ll see you back again!
